2015 Nissan NV3500 HD Values & Cars For Sale | Kelley Blue Book (2023)

The 2015 Nissan NV is a full-size van available in cargo or passenger form. In the earlier configuration, it offered a choice of two roof heights and a cavernous interior. The latter comfortably seats up to 12 passengers in four rows and can be used in shuttle service or by large families. The Nissan NV joins a wave of fresh, big vans like the Ford Transit, Ram ProMaster and Mercedes-Benz Sprinter replacing GM's ending Ford E-Series and aging Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana models. As a utility vehicle or passenger car, the big Nissan offers an affordable and versatile way to transport cargo or people. When equipped with the optional V8, this rear-wheel drive van can also tow 9,500 pounds.

Used 2015 Nissan NV3500 HD Prices

The 2015 Nissan NV Cargo Van has a manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) of just over $27,200, while passenger versions start at around $33,800. A well-appointed cargo version can top $37,000 while a loaded passenger version can top $40,000. At its base price, the Nissan NV Cargo undercuts the entry-level GMC Savana, Chevy Express and Ram ProMaster and costs several thousand less than a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter. NV passenger models start almost the same as people carrier versions of the Ford Transit. Before you buy, be sure to check KBB.com's fair price below to see what others are paying for the Nissan NV in your area. Over the years, Nissan NV's resale value is expected to match that of its domestic competitors, none of which hold their value particularly well.

Driving the used 2015 Nissan NV3500 HD

The standard powerplant in the Nissan NV1500, NV2500 HD Cargo and NV3500 HD Passenger Van is Nissan's proven 4.0-litre V6. Considering the same engine is used in the mid-size Frontier pickup, it proves surprisingly powerful in this large van. At 261 hp, it's more powerful than the V6 in GM's vans and on par with the base V6 petrol engines in the Ram ProMaster and Ford Transit. Even with a full crew on board, the V6 pulls hard, although it tends to complain once it's up to speed. Those who need more power to easily haul or tow heavier loads should choose the larger 5.6-liter V8, which is standard on the NV3500 HD cargo and top-of-the-line NV passenger models and optional on others . The Nissan NV's ride and handling is about what you'd expect from a big box on wheels. That said, we do commend its suspension, which stabilizes this rig well.

interior comfort

Space is the Nissan NV's selling point, and there's plenty of it. Cargo models have driver and passenger seats, while the rest of the cargo area is available for carrying goods or can be customized for business needs. For those who need the most space, models with the high-roof option expand cargo volume to 323.1 cubic feet, nearly 90 cubic feet more than the 234.1 cubic feet on standard-roof models. Passenger models of Nissan's large van can accommodate up to 12 people. Seats in the three rear rows can be removed or moved to make room for people and equipment.

Exterior-Styling

Form follows function in the Nissan NV, with the big van's slab-like nature and overall large girth being key to its ability to pack a lot. Standard roof models look like a square on wheels, while high roof models look more like a high-top sneaker. The high roof option is reserved for NV2500 HD and NV3500 HD cargo models. Both cargo and passenger models have a sliding passenger-side door for loading cargo and people, while the rear doors have a 243-degree opening range for easier loading. Unlike some competitors, the NV is only available in one length: 240.6 inches.

HOCHDACH-OPTION
Sure, it may look awkward, but the Nissan NV Cargo Vans' high-roof option pays off inside with over 323 cubic feet of storage space. Additionally, this tall canopy allows a 6ft 3in person to stand upright, which their back will thank them for every day at work.

INTERIOR FLEXIBILITY
The NV not only offers a lot of interior space - it presents this space in a smart way. For example, the front passenger seat in cargo versions of the van folds forward to create a workspace, while passenger models offer 324 configurations thanks to moveable and detachable seats.

standard functions

A basic version of the NV1500 van includes air conditioning, dozens of charging brackets, pre-wiring for electrical equipment, a tilting (but not telescopic) steering wheel, a 2-speaker AM/FM/CD audio system with AUX input and electronic traction control. Base passenger models include 12 seats with a dozen rear heating and cooling vents, eight cup holders/three bottle holders, and four speakers for the audio system. The bottom fairings of passenger and cargo models still use manual window and door locks. For an additional $650, we recommend the Power Basic package, which fixes this and adds cruise control and keyless entry.

Work options

Upgrades for the 2015 Nissan NV cargo and passenger vans include navigation, Bluetooth wireless connectivity, front and side airbags, dual-zone air conditioning (passenger models), remote keyless entry, and a rear-view monitor. New SL top-line equipment for cargo models includes an 8-way power driver's seat, chrome bumpers, grille and door handles, a vehicle security system and roof-mounted side impact airbags. In addition to the high roof option, Cargo models can also be specified with a rear glass door and side windows. Higher-spec versions include a rear sonar system to help reverse the full-size van, while top-of-the-line passenger models come with leather seats that are heated up front.

Engine / gear

The 2015 Nissan NV is equipped with a 261 hp V6 engine, which is sufficient for most tasks. Optional on other models and standard on top trims is Nissan's 317-horsepower 5.6-liter V8, which offers satisfying boost. Both engines run on regular unleaded petrol and are mated to 5-speed automatic transmissions. All Nissan NV vans are rear-wheel drive. Maximum towing capacity for the V6 is 7,000 pounds (6,200 for passenger models), while the V8 tops out at 9,500 pounds (8,700 for passenger models). The EPA has yet to provide fuel economy ratings for the NV. If you're trying to keep your fuel budget in check, the diesel offerings from the Sprinter and Ram competitors are more efficient, while smaller vans like the Nissan NV200 use less thirsty 4-cylinder engines.

KBB Vehicle Rating and Rating Methodology

Our expert ratings come from hours of driving and number crunching to ensure you choose the best car for you. We experience and extensively analyze every new SUV, car, truck or minivan for sale in the United States and compare it to its competitors. When all that dust settles, we'll have our reviews.

We need new ratings every time a completely new vehicle or a new generation of an existing vehicle comes onto the market. Additionally, we reassess these ratings when a new generation vehicle is given a mid-cycle refresh - basically a mid-life car (usually around the 2-3 year mark) is given a minor facelift, often with beefed up updates of features and technology.

Rather than pulling random numbers out of thin air or scratching them off a meaningless checklist, KBB editors put a vehicle where it belongs in its class. Before a car gets its KBB rating, it has to prove better (or worse) than the other cars it competes with as it tries to trick you into spending your money on buying or leasing.

Our editors drive and live with a specific vehicle. We ask the right questions about the interior, exterior, engine and powertrain, ride and handling, equipment, comfort and of course the price. Does it serve the purpose for which it was built? (Whether that purpose is to efficiently commute to and from work in the city, to keep your family safe, to make you feel like you've made it to the top — or that you're on your way — or you do that Make you feel like you've finally found just the right partner for your lifestyle.)

We take every vehicle we test through the mundane - parking, lane changing, reversing, cargo space and loading - as well as through the essentials - acceleration, braking, handling, interior quietness and comfort, build quality, material quality, reliability.
